Emergency Asbestos Removal company
An emergency asbestos removal situation can arise in a number of ways at your home or commercial premises. If you suddenly become aware of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) and need them swiftly and expertly removed, then contact Total Demolition Services to have things put right.
We offer emergency asbestos removal services throughout Hampshire, Blackburn, Preston, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Plymouth, Dorset, Cheshire, London, Surrey, Dorset, West Sussex, East Sussex, Berkshire, Birmingham, Bradford, Wiltshire, and Kent.
You may need emergency asbestos removal if:
- A builder breaks through a wall or ceiling panels during a renovation project and discovers asbestos there, or you discover asbestos yourself during a DIY project;
- Your premises suffers fire or flood damage, that exposes ACMs; or,
- Illegal fly-tipping of ACMs occurs at your property.
In all such cases, you will want the asbestos quickly removed and the area immediately made safe. Those are the exact services we deliver.
How we deal with it
We will quickly arrive at your site – sometimes even on the same day – and we will first conduct an assessment to determine the extent of the presence of ACMs.
We will also establish if the HSE requires notification that asbestos removal is about to take place. In many emergency cases where notification is required, we can secure a waiver of the usual 14-day notification period, so that removal can be carried out immediately.
We will then secure your site and use best industry practice to remove all exposed asbestos and make remaining materials safe, and we will then take away the ACMs for proper disposal under licence.
We will also arrange an independent inspection and air test by an accredited analytical company. This is to verify that all hazardous ACMs have been removed and there are no remaining risks posed by airborne fibres or other materials.
Please note this testing is mandatory in all emergency asbestos removal situations where HSE notification is required, and it must be complete before safety enclosures on the site are removed.
Once the all-clear is given, you will be given a certificate of reoccupation and then are free to resume using your premises as before.

Abestos in Homes
All you need to know about asbestos in homes in the United Kingdom. Current UK legislation does not make any legal requirements of domestic homeowners.
We are able to provide any level of survey required, up to the Demolition and Refurbishment survey now required prior to the demolition of any building or structure.
When a building is to be demolished the (non-domestic) client ( usually the property owner) has a duty to provide pre-demolition information to the designer
A refurbishment survey / demolition survey is needed before any planned refurbishment or demolition work is carried out. This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonable practicable

Types of Asbestos
Asbestos has been included in many materials in the last 150 years. Three common types of asbestos can be found in buildings: Crocidolite (Blue Asbestos), Amosite (Brown Asbestos), Chrysotile (White Asbestos)
The strategy of the HSE is to ensure that those involved in the repair, removal or disturbance of asbestos containing materials (ACMs), such as insulation coatings or insulation boards, are licensed & competent
What is Asbestos
Asbestos was commonly used as a construction material in the UK between the 1950s and 1980s in particular. If your home was built between these years, chances are that you are living with Asbestos
